Kiss Like Big Dogs

Originally produced as a five-episode web series, this collection of vignettes explores the random hook-ups, first dates, and break-ups of a young man played by video maker Dakota Michael Loesch. In contrast to the DIY sloppiness of many independent web creations, this is artful enough that the strung-together pieces stand as a cohesive work. In the final vignette Loesch meets a woman while shotgunning beer at a party, and the two spend the evening on the snowy streets of Chicago discovering a chemistry so natural that we might feel we’re spying on an actual date. Though there are narrative flaws to each segment (one in particular drags on too long), charming performances bring these relationships to life.
