Directed by Humberto Solas, this 1968 Cuban drama is divided into three segments, each examining a separate historical period with its distinct “Lucia” engaged in a particular struggle. The first Lucia, from the colonial upper class, is caught up in the Spanish-American War, the second is the companion of an urban guerrilla fighting against President Machado in the early 1930s, and the third is a contemporary Cuban woman trying with her husband to participate in “revolutionary life.”
