In this quirky Mexican drama, an insurance company fires its 75-year-old file clerk (Magda Vizcaino) and replaces her with a curvy young computer operator (Penelope Hernandez) who casually advises the reticent old woman of a painless way to commit suicide. Bereaved even more by the departure of a longtime neighbor, the woman wanders the railroad tracks and curiously empty streets of outer Mexico City, attracting the notice of another solitary walker. Writer-director Marcelino Islas Hernandez portrays the woman as a person of submerged passions, noting her devotion to fiery telenovelas and framing her like a bloom against luminous saffron walls. But his stabs at office humor are too broad to hit their mark, and his use of close-ups sometimes feels arbitrary. In Spanish with subtitles.
