Los Angeles stand-up Charlyne Yi, best known as one of the stoned couch potatoes in Knocked Up, wrote and stars in this unbearably twee mockumentary about the meaning of love. Her on-screen pose of squirming self-deprecation is immediately belied by a sequence in which she interviews all her famous, impeccably hip pals (Seth Rogen, Martin Starr, Demetri Martin); romance and more indie cred arrive in the form of nerd sex symbol Michael Cera (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist), who takes a shine to her. He and Yi are so adorable together I wanted to stuff them in a Hello Kitty bag and drop them from an overpass onto the Dan Ryan. The director is Nicholas Jasenovec, though the on-screen director, who shares his name, is played by Jake M. Johnson. PG-13, 89 min.
