To call this Kevin James comedy fatuous might be misinterpreted as an attack on the star’s girth—so how about inane, tepid, lazy, puerile, phony, and unfunny? As a hypoglycemic security officer at a New Jersey mega-mall, he invites his colleagues’ ridicule by constantly overreaching his limited authority to patrol and protect. But he has to save the day when some robbers, who are also extreme-sports enthusiasts, burst into the shopping center on their bikes and skateboards and take hostages. James cowrote the witless screenplay, and director Steve Carr (Daddy Day Care) stretches out the thin material with long reaction shots and slow motion. PG, 87 min.
