An early talkie (1932) by the minor French director Julien Duvivier, who’s best remembered for Pepe le Moko and Panique. A remake of one of his silent films, it tells the story of a lonely, abused farm boy. (The title, his nickname, means “Carrot Top.”) With Catherine Fontency, Harry Baur, and Robert Lynen. In French with subtitles. 91 min.
