Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Brian Cox return as over-the-hill special agents in this sequel to the 2010 action comedy; joining them for this installment are Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and David Thewlis. With a cast like that, it would be near impossible for a movie to be uninteresting, and sure enough, the players supply enough grace notes to make up for the tired spy-movie cliches. Alas, director Dean Parisot displays little personality of his own, presenting both the action sequences and comic dialogue in the same clunky, televisual nonstyle. This lacks the cartoonish momentum that made the first film so enjoyable, but you might have fun if you go in with lowered expectations.
