More accurately, Richard Pryor on videotape transferred to film in a movie theater. But whatever it is, it’s still one of the funniest pictures around, as well as one of the most accomplished performances I’ve ever seen. This is Pryor’s original concert film, and it’s more of a piece than Sunset Strip, with bits on marriage, pet monkeys, and heart attacks woven into a riotous study in human survival (1979).
