P.J. Soles and the Ramones lead off in this amiable, rambunctious New World production (1979), aimed ostensibly at the teen trade but more obliquely and effectively at the new wave cult. Allan Arkush directed, willing himself into the mind of a 17-year-old. It’s more cleverly cut than shot—which means that it moves quickly and energetically even as the concepts and characters disintegrate. With Mary Woronov and Paul Bartel.
