The chaotic world of a newly released mental patient, as imagined by Canadian experimentalist Peter Mettler. Lots of dizzying, brittle imagery and formal fragmentation to show off Mettler’s technical skills, but it’s largely an academic exercise treading down familiar experimental paths. Still, Mettler does a reasonable job of coaxing a scrambled narrative out of the visual welter, and the images manage to sustain interest even when literal meaning escapes. Mettler will be present for the screening. A Chicago premiere.
