First-time documentarians Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus interweave profiles of a former porn actress trying to start a family, a shy young teaching assistant obsessed with getting a labiaplasty, and a spoiled Manhattan girl just entering puberty. The unifying theme is how women perceive their sexuality in the Internet age, and the onscreen conversations touch on everything from the ubiquity of online pornography to ways in which social networking sites encourage exhibitionist behavior. This raises more issues than it can possibly consider in depth, but the filmmakers’ ambition is admirable, as is their refusal to draw simple conclusions about any of the subjects. Also on the program is Beauty CULTure (30 min.), a thematically similar documentary by Lauren Greenfield (The Queen of Versailles).
