A certain amount of pleasure can be found in the computer-generated images and the casual tours of Tokyo that occupy the first 20 or so minutes of this 1995 documentary about virtual reality and digital technology directed by Brazilian filmmaker Iara Lee. But when the subject expands to include biotechnology, plastic surgery, and drugs, the countless sound-bite commentaries and image-bite teasers begin to register more and more like MTV filler. Plenty of major subjects are brushed past here, but none of the ideas is allowed to develop beyond the limits of a typical TV news feature. Lee and her producer, George Gund, will introduce the 9:30 screenings on Saturday and Sunday.
