A new short documentary feature by George Nierenberg (Say Amen, Somebody) explores the rhythm and blues that preceded the rock explosion of the 50s. Starring musicians Ruth Brown, Charles Brown, and Eddie Williams, deejays Shelley “the Playboy” Stewart and “Diggie Doo” Dixon, and various record producers; a Chicago premiere. On the same program, Terrence Stegner’s Chicago on the Good Foot, which looks at blues and gospel music and features, among others, Willie Dixon, Junior Wells, James Cotton, the Legendary Blues Band, Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows, and the Victory Travelers.
