In this Iranian update of Hamlet, the scion of a wealthy family (Bahram Radan) becomes unhinged when his father’s ghost appears and his widowed mother marries his uncle. Comparing his life to that of the melancholy Dane, the young man resolves to use Shakespeare’s play to expose corporate skullduggery and reveal his uncle as his father’s murderer, but not everything goes as planned. Written and directed by Varouj Karim Masihi, the movie is most interesting when it departs from the play; here Ophelia is not a foolish girl but a tough-minded spitfire (Taraneh Alidousti of Fireworks Wednesday), and literally the last left standing. In Farsi with subtitles. 117 min.
