Like A Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life, this indie feature by writer-director Spencer Schilly charts a dark emotional journey at Christmastime. The hero, the 21-year-old boy toy of a gay New York couple, is left to mind their apartment over the holidays—and decides he’s going to kill himself on Christmas Eve. But as he encounters a series of strangers—ranging from a gentle, middle-aged man with HIV to a meth-dealing sex addict—the disturbing tale moves toward a feel-good ending. (This is a Christmas movie, after all.) Nick May gives a poignant performance in the title role. 85 min.
