An interesting relic from 1925, translating to the silent screen a marvelous tale by Arthur Conan Doyle about four Englishmen who meet a horde of prehistoric monsters while on a trek up the Amazon. Harry Hoyt directed, combining incredible special effects (the monsters) and unbearable melodrama (the actors). This was Willis O’Brien’s first feature as a stop-motion animator, eight years before King Kong.
