How fitting that the makers of this action-adventure movie about tomb raiders plunder the Universal Pictures vault, from the 1932 and 1999 versions of The Mummy to An American Werewolf in London (1981) and the Abbott and Costello monster fests. Tom Cruise and Jake Johnson are the bickering, bumbling grave robbers who revive an embalmed Egyptian princess, unleashing 5,000 years of her pent-up wrath. The vengeful mummy, played by Sofia Boutella, sashays like a runway model in designer grunge, and Russell Crowe camps it up as Dr. Jekyll. Transformers veteran Alex Kurtzman directed, trading in gibberish and explosive violence.
