Neverending seems the right word, although it’s taken seven years for West German producer Dieter Geissler to come up with a sequel to Wolfgang Petersen’s fantasy set in the land of Fantasia. Drawing again from Michael Ende’s best-selling novel The NeverEnding Story, with a script by Karin Howard and direction by Australian George Miller (of The Man From Snowy River, not Mad Max), this film offers a new cast—Jonathan Brandis as hero Bastian Balthazar Bux, Alexandra Johnes as the childlike empress, and Kenny Morrison as the boy warrior Atreyu. Clarissa Burt, John Wesley Shipp, and Martin Umbach costar.
