Thanks to Citizen Kane, Marion Davies is better remembered as William Randolph Hearst’s mistress than as the talented comedian she occasionally showed herself to be (Hearst insisted on putting her in deadly costume dramas). The Patsy is a 1928 farce about a girl trying to steal her sister’s boyfriend, directed by the great King Vidor, responsible for one of Davies’s best performances in Show People.
