A welcome return to the Disney tradition of 2-D animation, this lively musical spices up Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Frog Prince” by transplanting it to New Orleans in the early 20th century. A struggling waitress—Disney’s first-ever black heroine—dreams of opening her own restaurant someday, but her plans are upset when a shadowy voodoo man bewitches her with a talking frog who was once a jazz-crazed prince. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker (Aladdin, The Little Mermaid), the movie features vibrant songs by Randy Newman and such voice talents as Oprah Winfrey, Terrence Howard, and Keith David.
