The third entry in Belgian writer-director Lucas Belvaux’s 2000 trilogy is a melodrama about Pascal (Gilbert Melki), a dirty cop, and Agnes (Dominique Blanc), his schoolteacher wife. Pascal is torn up over Agnes’s drug habit and his complicity with her dealer; Agnes, who’s a helpless pawn in the first film and a comic foil in the second, is revealed here as an evil vamp responsible for her husband’s corrupt relationship with the mob. Some of the characters’ personality traits clash with their personae in the earlier films, which undermines the impact of the tragic fate they meet in this one. In French with subtitles. 124 min.
