Smug indie comedy from Canada, written by Ted Bezaire and Michael Stasko and severely burdened by Stasko’s studied cool in the lead role. The story riffs on Zach Braff’s Garden State: an office drone (Stasko) quits his job, returns to his hometown, hooks up with a goofy high school friend (Daniel Wilson), and sets out to complete a list of things he’s always wanted to do. Floating through this are some fine ideas (the two resolve to beat up a bully from their past, but he’s now a paraplegic) and performances (Pat Thornton as Stasko’s despairing office mate), but the deadpan comedy is more irritating than amusing. Bezaire directed. 85 min.
