A chef whose taste buds have stopped working cooks elaborate meals for his three daughters and tries to influence their decisions about career and romance. As this 2001 food movie and comedy drama, inspired by Eat Drink Man Woman, builds to the inevitable healing of the chef’s palate, only some of the characterizations exhibit subtlety, though most of the performances have considerable charm. Still, the script, which infantilizes one of the older siblings as much as the father does, undermines its own admonitions against parents and adult children meddling in one another’s lives. With Hector Elizondo, Jacqueline Obradors, Elizabeth Peña, and Tamara Mello; Maria Ripoll directed a screenplay by Tom Musca, Ramon Menendez, and Vera Blasi. 103 min.
