If you’re going to make a movie in which some of your stars are animated toys and much of downtown Chicago is reduced to rubble, this is the way to do it: shamelessly, with no expense spared and no cliche avoided. The third and easily the best entry in director Michael Bay’s fast, loud, violent, and often obnoxious sci-fi franchise, this devotes more time to dialogue and character development, then shoots the works with a third act, nearly an hour long, in which the warring Autobots and Decepticons tear the city apart. The visual effects are amazing. With Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, John Turturro, Frances McDormand, Josh Duhamel, and Tyrese Gibson.
