Unfriended

Six teenagers engaged in a group chat on Skype are terrorized by the ghost of a classmate who killed herself a year earlier. In a variation on the horror subgenre of stories reconstructed from found footage, this transpires entirely on the computer desktop of one character, the heroine creating flashbacks by opening old photos and videos (there are some instances of glitch art as well). There’s a topical emphasis on cyberbullying, which led the classmate to commit suicide; the commiserating teens are so small-minded and mean that it should come as no surprise that they were the ones bullying her. You might find yourself rooting for the murderer. Leo Gabriadze directed a script by Nelson Greaves.
