A masterpiece of calculated bad taste, this is an exuberant, preposterously exaggerated celebration of the roller derby lifestyle. Writer-director Vernon Zimmerman called it “Gun Crazy on wheels”; and whatever its antecedents in the B-cinema of the 40s, of which there are many, it is the kind of Roger Corman-inspired sleazy flick that makes up in oddball personality and verve what it lacks in “style.” Claudia Jennings is terrific as the frenetic queen of the derby circuit. With Louis Quinn and Betty Anne Rees; the editor was a young Martin Scorsese (1972).
