This SF action sequel (to the 1992 Universal Soldier) must have been slapped together fast: live-action stunts created by uninspired editing lead up to computer-generated imagery that’s just as lame. Jean-Claude Van Damme—who seems almost embarrassed each time the script requires him to leer at his female colleagues—plays a former experimental subject of a government program he now helps administer. When the project loses its mandate, a computer and a battalion of “unisols”—battlefield dead brought back to life so they can fight more wars—run amok. Mic Rodgers directed a screenplay by William Malone and John Fasano, based on characters created by Richard Rothstein, Christopher Leitch, and Dean Devlin; with Michael Jai White, Heidi Schanz, and Bill Goldberg.
