Another variant of “The Little Engine That Could,” this computer-animated kiddie film recycles British war-movie cliches with its tale of a homing pigeon that joins the war effort and, assigned to a squad of feathered misfits, transports sensitive intelligence past the dreaded falcon forces of General Von Talon. The violence is minimal, and the humor is inoffensive enough for tots, but everything is damned soft—from the fuzzy backgrounds to the enemy’s diluted Germanness. First-timer Gary Chapman directed; with the voices of Ewan McGregor, Ricky Gervais, John Cleese, and Tim Curry. G, 76 min.
