A yakuza hit man (Tetsuya Watari) takes out the head of a rival Tokyo crime family and flees to the port city of Kobe, where he’s tracked by a police detective as well as an assassin sent by the rival clan (apple-cheeked Jo Shishido of A Colt Is My Passport). Of course, neither turns out to be as dangerous as the virtuous woman who wins his heart. This 1967 crime thriller from Japan’s Nikkatsu studio was directed by Toshio Masuda, who scored a few years earlier with the pungent Red Handkerchief but fails to generate much suspense here.
