The witness is Barbara Stanwyck, who peers out her window one night and sees a woman being strangled in the apartment across the street; the murderer is oily George Sanders, who persuades the police that Stanwyck is delusional, then begins stalking her. Their best efforts can’t salvage this routine 1954 crime drama, though cinematographer John Alton contributes some of the elegant shadow play he brought to the classic noir He Walked by Night. Roy Rowland directed; with Gary Merrill and Jesse White.
