Chicago Gaelic Park: Family New Year’s Eve Party A dinner buffet, party favors, Irish music by John Dillon, and a toast at 6 PM—midnight in Ireland—with a choice of champagne or sparkling juice.
ComedySportz Theatre Three shows: two family ones with an early countdown (4 and 7 PM, $22) and a late one with party favors, a full bar, a champagne toast, and a dance party afterward (10 PM, $30).

Rebar: “A Pink Affair to Remember” The lounge inside the Trump Hotel is decked out in pink for a party that includes dancing, a champagne toast, and views of Navy Pier’s fireworks display. The Red Canary: “Bootlegger’s Ball” Upon arrival, each guest receives $5,000 in fake money to spend at two craps, three blackjack, and one roulette table. Also includes passed appetizers, an open bar till 1:30 AM, 1920s-themed party favors, and a champagne toast. At 7 and 8 PM, the restaurant serves a special three-course dinner menu available to ticketholders for $25.

312 Chicago Chef Luca Corazzina offers a four-course Italian prix fixe with choices, including boneless short ribs with polenta, lobster-filled ravioli, grilled beef tenderloin with wild mushrooms and truffle butter. It’s $55 per person, $70 with wine pairings, with seatings from 5 to 10 PM
Adobo Grill Three-course prix fixe menu with a tequila toast at midnight, live mariachi music. Seatings start at 9 PM; reservations required.
Alhambra Palace A three-course Moroccan menu is $55, a four-course $75, with seatings at 5:30, 7:30, and 9:30 PM and a complimentary glass of champagne. A five-course dinner beginning at 9 PM is $150 per person and includes a bottle of house champagne. There will be live music, a belly dancer, party favors, and a balloon drop.
Atwood Cafe Executive chef Derek Simcik presents a champagne-and-caviar-themed three-course prix with seating from 5 to 10:30 PM. It’s $50, $70 with wine pairings. Choices include a foie gras torchon with champagne gelee, grilled bison with a champagne-poached duck egg and caviar, and a chocolate dome with strawberry “caviar” and champagne syrup.
Avec Seating starts at 5 PM for a five-course prix fixe including antipasti and skate wing with pork belly cassoulet; a beverage pairing is $25.
Ben Pao The “group share” menu, priced at $23.95 per person, allows patrons to choose starters, three main dishes, and a side to be served family style.
Big Jones The restaurant will resuscitate the Gullah custom of eating sea island red peas for good luck in the coming year, offering red pea “cappuccino” with puffed rice and bacon froth as the first course. Other items in the five-course prix fixe are a choice of gumbo, turtle soup, or salad; New York strip or low-country bouillabaisse; and bourbon-chocolate beignets or red velvet cake. The regular menu will also be available.
Bin 36 This New Year’s bash features multiple food stations. From 5:30-7 PM it’s $55; from 9 PM-2 AM an open bar, live music, and coffee and doughnuts “for the trip home” are added on for $100.
Blackbird Executive Mike Sheerin offers a five-course prix fixe for $85 and a ten-course for $125, with pairings an additional $50. The menu had yet to be determined at press time; seatings are from 5 to 10:30 PM.
Blokes & Birds Chef Greg Cannon offers a four-course prix fixe menu at three seatings: 5:30 ($40), 7:30 ($55), 9:30 PM ($70); choices include deviled beef or truffled forest mushrooms with smoked peat sea salt, filet mignon or butter-poached lobster with saffron-vanilla risotto and sea beans, and trifle. An drinks package including a glass of wine, a beer, and a craft cocktail is an additional $25.
Blue 13 Executive chef Chris Curren offers two prix fixe menus starting a 6 PM: five courses for $100, $150 with wine pairings, and seven for $140, $210 with pairings. There’s a complimentary toast at midnight; reservations required.
Boka Chef Giuseppe Tentori offers two seatings, the first a three-course prix fixe with seatings at 5 and 5:30 PM ($65, $110 with wine pairings), the second a six-course prix fixe with seatings at 8 and 8:30 PM ($95, $185 with wine pairings).
The Bristol Chef Chris Pandel is offering a four-course prix for $49 per person, with seatings between 6 and 11 PM on the first floor and between 7 and 9:45 PM on the second. The menu begins with a shared-course first course of crab with egg cream, buratta, and sunchoke arancini and includes hand-rolled garganelli with a veal and black truffle veloute and a choice of beef daube, diver scallops, or Savoy cabbage with bulgur and pumpkin-pomegranate molasses.
C-House Marcus Samuelsson’s restaurant in the Affinia Hotel is offering a four-course prix fixe with a complimentary glass of champagne for $79, with seatings starting at 5:30 PM.
Carnivale New Year’s specials on food and drink, a midnight balloon drop, champagne toast at midnight, and entertainment including magicians, stilt walkers, and a DJ.
Ceres’ Table Chef Giuseppe Scurato offers two prix fixe menus at two seatings: three courses for $45 from 5 to 7:30 PM and five courses for $65 from 8 PM to midnight, with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to toast in the New Year.
Chen’s Chinese buffet with an open bar and party favors at midnight; regular dinner reservations are also accepted.
Chicago Cut Steakhouse The new downtown steak house is accepting dinner reservations up to 1:30 AM; the regular menu will be available in addition to New Year’s specials like chateaubriand for two. There’s also live jazz and a complimentary toast at midnight.
Chizakaya Chef-owner Harold Jurado offers two prix fixe menus with optional sake pairings from 5 to 11 PM: seven courses for $35 ($60 with sake) and nine for $50 ($90 with sake). Dishes include an oyster caviar champagne gelee, scallop sahimi with Asian pear, a Wagyu and bonito fish duo, and miso-glazed duck breast with duck thigh confit, foie gras, and braised green apple.
Cité The restaurant on the 70th floor of Lake Point Tower will offer a seven-course prix fixe menu at two seatings: 5:30-7 PM ($125) and 8:30-10 PM ($225), followed by jazz, dancing, a champagne toast, and a view of the fireworks at midnight.
Custom House A five-course prix fixe from chef Perry Hendrix is $75; at seatings from 8 to 10 PM there’s live music, party favors, and a toast for an added $15. the regular menu will also be available. Custom House will be closed New Year’s Day.
Cyrano’s Bistrot & Wine Bar Two seatings: a four-course prix fixe from 6 to 7: 30 PM is $59, followed by a four-course prix fixe with a champagne toast ($69) or a five-course meal with cabaret entertainment ($80).
David Burke’s Primehouse Chef Rick Gresh offers a four-course prix fixe of “David Burke’s Favorites,” with seatings from 5:30 to 10:30 PM.
Deleece In addition to the regular menu, there will be a four-course prix fixe ($60, $75 with pairings), plus a complimentary champagne toast at midnight.
Deleece Grill Pub Details hadn’t been finalized at press time, but there are plans for a three- or four-course prix fixe, most likely with optional beer pairings. At last year’s celebration there was a complimentary PBR at midnight.
DMK Burger Bar Open bar with music, movies, and a “breakfast burger” at midnight; standing room only.
Elate Chef Randal Jacobs offers a four-course prix fixe at a 6:30 PM seating for $65; choices include lobster carpaccio or chilled foie gras terrine, ricotta gnocchi or parsnip bisque with black truffles, and butter-poached sole or a grilled Wagyu strip loin.
Eve No special prix fixe menu this year, just a chance to try some of chef Troy Graves’s specialties before the restaurant closes after the New Year.
Everest Chef Jean Joho offers a special tasting menu to go with Dom Perignon’s limited-edition champagne in bottles paying tribute to Andy Warhol. It’s $125, as is the regular tasting menu, which will also be available.
Geja’s Cafe The restaurant offers a four-course fondue dinner at three seatings, each with complimentary champagne: 5 PM ($75), 7:30 PM ($95), and 10 PM ($115 includes a bottle of Louis Roederer NV Brut Premier and party favors).
Go Roma Italian Kitchen This family New Year’s Eve celebration features an all-you-can-eat buffet that’s $12 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under; a goody bag for the tykes is included.
Graham Elliot A five-course prix fixe is $125, with seatings from 5:30 to 7 PM and from 8 to 9 PM.
Green Zebra Five-course vegetarian tasting menu offered at four seatings: 6, 6:30, 9, and 9:30 PM ($75, $120 with wine pairings). A vegan version is available with 48 hours’ advance notice; other dietary restrictions can also be accommodated with notice. Dinner kicks off with a hen-of-the-woods mushroom paté with burgundy truffle and date mostarda and includes pearl couscous with a cauliflower-Parmesan tuile and preserved lemon, salsify-truffle chowder, goat cheese ravioli, and a dark chocolate mousse dome.
In Fine Spirits A four-course prix fixe menu with pairings is $100 from 6 to 9 PM and $150 thereafter, with admission to a masquerade party from 10 PM to 1 AM included in the cost. The party, which runs until 2 AM, includes an open bar till 1 and a costume contest; it’s $75. All those dining will be given a gift to take home: maple-glazed lemon scones.
Koi Sushi & Chinese This Evanston Asian restaurant offers a kids’ New Year’s, with a kids’ menu as well a la carte choices and party favors for a New Year’s countdown at 7:59 PM.
LaSalle Power Co. The Prohibition-themed costume party opens with a reception from 8 to 9 PM then continues with a premium bar (beer, wine, cocktails, Red Bull, and champagne included), a buffet, and DJs. Costumes aren’t required.
Mac’s American Pub A la carte dining and beverages, a DJ from 9 PM to 2 AM, and complimentary party favors and champagne toast. An optional drinks package including beer, wine, and call liquor from 10 PM to 1 AM is $45.
Market A four-course dinner and premium open is $110, with seatings at 7 and 9:30 PM; a drinks-only package is $85. Both include favors and a champagne toast, with a complimentary bottle for every party of four.
Mercadito Chicago The Chicago location of the upscale Mexican chain offers two seatings with its five-course prix fixe menu available: from 5 to 9:30 PM ($50) and 9:45 PM to 2 AM ($60, $110 with “libations”). The regular menu will also be available. A DJ will spin, and there will be decorations and party favors.
Mercat a la Planxa Executive chef Jose Garces will once again be offering prix fixe menus; details had not been finalized at press time.
MK A four-course prix fixe menu will be served at two seatings, from 6 to 7 PM ($70) and from 8:30 PM ($90, with a complimentary champagne). Among the offerings from chefs Erick Williams and Michael Kornick are a crudo trio of hamachi, fluke, and yellowfin tuna; quail or pan-seared Maine diver scallops; and pan-roasted turbot or roast loin of Wagyu beef.
Moonshine Brewing Company Party featuring an open bar, dinner buffet with carving stand, DJs, a champagne toast and party favors, late-night pizzas, and a complimentary valet. The following day there’s a New Year’s Day brunch from 10 AM to 3 PM.
Nacional 27 The pan-Latin restaurant offers two dinner packages, one a three-course prix fixe starting at 5 PM, with parties of four or more served family style. The second, from 7 to 9 PM, is a four-course prix fixe for $95, with a complimentary glass of champagne. An open bar from 9 PM to midnight is $95, from 10 PM-midnight $75, both of which include the $20 cover charge for dancing, which is also available on its own beginning at 11 PM, with a cash bar.
Nana Seatings at 5, 7, and 9 PM for three course-prix fixe served family style and featuring dishes traditionally said to bring good luck. Starting at 11 PM late-night nibbles and toast ring in the New Year; $40.
Nia Chef James Day offers a five-course prix fixe menu featuring items like lobster-mascarpone ravioli, a Moroccan-style roasted half Cornish hen, and a chocolate-covered port-and-raspberry poached pear. It’s $55, $80 with pairings; there’s a complimentary toast at a midnight. The a la carte menu will also be available.
N9ne Steak House Two seatings featuring caviar, lobster, and prime aged steaks from an a la carte menu. The first, 5:30-7 PM, requires a prepaid minimum of $40 per person. The second, 8-10 PM, requires an $80 minimum and includes admission to Ghostbar after 11 PM. At both seatings diners have the option of sitting at the champagne and caviar bar, complimentary champagne cocktail included. Ghostbar offers a separate package including a complimentary glass of champagne and passed hors d’oeuvres from 9 to 11 PM for $20.11.
North Pond Chef Bruce Sherman offers an eight-course prix fixe menu for $120, $180 with wine pairings; the a la carte menu will not be available. The Ole St. Andrew’s Inn A four-course prix with choices like a New York strip, New Zealand lamb chops and seafood linguine; there will be live music from 9 PM to 2 AM.
People Lounge A New Year’s Eve party package is $85 and includes sangria, draft beers, call cocktails, and energy; a DJ will spin from 8 PM to 2 AM. Table reservations are also available, as will be the regular menu.
Piece A $20 door charge covers a pizza buffet from 10 to 11 PM, a complimentary champagne, and a DJ. Cash bar.
The Publican From 5:30 to 10:30 PM the Publican will be serving a four-course prix fixe menu family style, with courses including Werp winter vegetables with black truffles and bagna cauda and rye pasta with smoked steelhead trout. An optional upgrade is a lavish seafood collection at $25 per person.
Quince A five-course prix fixe from chef Andy Motto; the menu had still not been finalized at press time.
Sable Kitchen & Bar “Zoot! New Year’s 2011” is a swing-era costume party with a live band, a bottomless champagne bar, unlimited small plates from 8 to 11 PM and unlimited dessert from 11 PM to 1 AM, favors, and a balloon drop. There’s a cash bar for cocktails, beer, and wine.
Sheffield’s Open bar with an appetizer buffet including mini pulled pork sandwiches, tater tots with cheese curds, mini grilled cheese sandwiches, and fresh vegetables. $85 in advance, $100 at the door.
The Signature Room at the 95th Executive chef Patrick Sheerin offers a three-course prix fixe with seatings at 5, 5:30, and 6 PM ($95 includes tax and gratuity), followed by a five-course menu with an open bar and dancing ($240). Seatings are at 7 and 9:30 PM; cocktail attire is requested.
Sixteen Executive chef Frank Brunacci offers two seatings with prix fixe menus that riff on the theme of the Orient Express. The first, from 5 to 7:30 PM, offers three courses for $125, $175 with wine pairings. At the second seating, from 9:30 to 11 PM, a five-course tasting menu is $225, $325 with pairings, and an eight-course meal $330, $470 with pairings. A “first-class” package, with the eight-course menu, guaranteed window seating, and a Krug champagne toast at midnight, is $490 per person. All guests receive a complimentary toast and a bottle of champagne and house-made champagne to take home, along with a souvenir photograph. A champagne and dessert bar in the Bridges Room, which also has a view of the Navy Pier fireworks, is $75; it’s from 9:30 PM to midnight.
South Water Kitchen A three-course Americana-themed prix fixe menu with choices including oysters Rockefeller, PB&J foie gras, American sturgeon clambake, surf and turf with bison tenderloin and a crawfish cake, and baked Alaska. It’s $55, $80 with wine pairings, with seatings from 5 to 10:30 PM.
Sunda In addition to a New Year’s Eve party from 9 PM to 2 AM, featuring an open bar, passed and station food, and a DJ for $125, Sunda offers dinner packages ranging from $90 to $150 for a four-course meal served family style with wine pairings and a bar package.
SushiSamba Rio The restaurant offers its a la carte menu plus New year’s specials from 6 to 10 PM and from 10 PM to 2 AM, when there’s a $30 surchange applied to the bill. The party features salsa dancers, drummers, and a DJ; guests are asked to dress in white in honor of the Brazilian custom of tossing white flowers into the sea in the hope that Imeneja, goddess of the sea, will grant one’s wishes for the new year.
Taxim This year chef-owner David Schneider is offering his regular menu plus a complimentary glass of champagne and slice of vasilopita, the traditional Greek cake served on Saint Basil’s Day, January 1. He’ll also smash pomegranates in the foyer, a custom said to bring good luck. Seatings are from 5:30 to 11 PM; a DJ will spin in the later hours.
Uncommon Ground on Devon A four-course prix fixe with choices including shrimp and grits, butter-poached lobster with herb gnocchi, wild mushroom risotto, and black-pepper creme brulee with apple port compote is $55, $75 with wine pairings.
Uncommon Ground Wrigleyville A four-course prix fixe dinner is $55, $75 with wine pairings; bluegrass band the Sanctified Grumblers plays from 9:30 PM to 1 AM.
Vermilion A five-course prix fixe Latin-Indian fusion meal is $65 at the 6:30 PM seating, $85 at the 8:30 PM seating; dishes include duck vindaloo arepas, a New York strip with red chimichurri. There’s a DJ and dancing from 11 PM to 2 AM, with a $20 cover charge for nondiners after 9:30 PM. Party favors provided.
Vivo From 5 to 8 PM the regular menu is available, after there’s a four-course prix fixe option that includes a glass of prosecco through midnight ($60) or a four-course prix fixe with open bar (beer, wine, shelf liquor; $100).
Volo Restaurant Wine Bar Chef-partner Stephen Dunne will offer his full menu, with more than a dozen items $12 or less and more than 20 bottles of wine in the $30 to $40 range. There will be party favors, a complimentary toast, and dancing.
Webster Wine Bar Open bar, with heavy appetizers including antipasto plates, tapenades, kebabs, skewers, and pizzas. Reservations required.
West Town Tavern Drew and Susan Goss offer a New Year’s celebration with “no hype, no noisemakers, and no cheap sparkling wine at midnight.” In addition to the regular menu, there will be holiday specials including pear tart with double-cream blue cheese, and pan-seared east coast haddock with pears, Christmas lima beans, curly Eendive, and clam chowder with bacon.
Zocalo The Mexican restaurant is accepting reservations for seatings at 7 and 7:30 PM, when the a la carte menu will be offered. Seatings at 9 or 9:30 PM to midnight allow diners to choose a three-course meal of appetizer, entree, and dessert from the menu and specials list and include margaritas, beer, and house wine. There will be live Latin music and a tequila toast at midnight; a bar package alone is $30 for drinks and entertainment from 9 PM to midnight.
New Year’s Day Brunch
Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba The tapas restaurants hosts its annual New Year’s Day pajama party, with sangria and tapas.
Dunlays on Clark This “hangover brunch” features dishes like beer cheese with chips in addition to the standard omelet and sandwiches.
Dunlays on the Square In addition to the standard eggs, omelets, and pancakes, this brunch features Dunlays acclaimed johnnycakes and the cholesterol-enhancing Big Mike’s Irish Breakfast—a fried egg, rasher of bacon, sausage, broiled tomato, and potatoes.
The Fifty/50 Brunch starts at 10 AM, with the regular menu featuring breakfast cocktails like the Hoe-mosa, Hoegaarden Belgian white beer with orange juice, and the Wobble Stopper, a porter-infused Tex-Mex-style Bloody Mary garnished with house-smoked bacon. In addition to eggs, there are crepes, sticky buns, and stuffed French toast sliders.
Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap Brunch specials include all-you-can-eat breakfast, chicken and waffles, a “rehydration station,” and $5 Bloody Marys and mimosas.
Lokal The restaurant offers an a la carte menu with items including pork belly or duck confit with poached egg and an oatmeal “fondue” suitable for sharing. Bottomless Bloody Marys are $9, bottomless mimosas $7.
RB Grille A la carte menu including omelets and sides like sugar-cured bacon and savory chorizo and cornbread pudding. The brunch bar menu features a bacon bourbon Mary, a house-made pepper vodka Bloody Mary, and pomegranate mimosas.
The Red Canary Chef Neal Harper debuts a new brunch menu for the New Year, offering omelets, Benedicts, pancakes and waffles, and cheddar biscuits with house-made sausage gravy, among other items including burgers. Bottomless Bloody Marys are $20, bottomless mimosas $18.
Silver Cloud Bar & Grill No champagne fountain this year, but the usual omelets, Benedicts, and pancakes—plus $4 mimosas.
Timothy O’Toole’s The pub offers a menu including an Irish Benedict and the “Rise & Shine Burger,” plus a $7.50 Bloody Mary bar and a $14 bottomless Bloody Mary or Bellini.
