Chicago indie label BLVD Records continues to roll dope-ass jams down the avenue! Last week 90s-style alt-shoegazers Pink Frost (formerly Apteka) released their smashing second full-length, Sundowning, via BLVD and Notes & Bolts, and on Thu 9/12 BLVD brings its inaugural label showcase to the Burlington. The jam-packed lineup includes noisy barf-rock quartet Fake Limbs, who’ve been hard at work recording their second LP, and new signees Coward, a rangy instrumental four-piece from Missouri who jam with melodic, proggy flash. Blasted Diplomats, Blizzard Babies, and Split Feet round out the bill.

Gossip Wolf hears that local fourth-wave emo band Dowsing has had a personnel crisis. In late August, bandmates who shall remain unnamed asked Marcus Nuccio (drums) and Delia Hornik (keys, vocals) to leave. Dowsing has a couple tours lined up to support its sophomore album, I Don’t Even Care Anymore, and the band will reconfigure to play them. Nuccio tells Gossip Wolf it was “crushing” to get the boot, but he and Dowsing front man Erik Czaja both remain members of Pet Symmetry. “We’re still good friends and we love making music together,” Nuccio says. Pet Symmetry plays Riot Fest on Sunday.

Locals Boilerman scratch this wolf’s itch for gravelly, anthemic pop-punk in a big way! Their new LP, Loss Leaders, due Sat 9/28 on Hip Kids, the label run by front man Jim Gies, is like a well-toasted blend of Leatherface, Stiff Little Fingers, and the Broadways. Their record-release show that night with Peeple Watchin’ and Boxsledder is at a DIY space; e-mail hip.kid.records@gmail.com for deets. Loss Leaders is streaming in full at Boilerman’s Bandcamp.

Loquacious young rapper Milo (aka Rory Ferreira) just moved to town! This wolf recommends welcoming him by copping his recent Cavalcade mixtape, which LA rapper Nocando released through his Hellfyre label.
