Last week was our first time here. My friend told me about it. I didn’t even know what movie was playing until I heard people talking on the Blue Line. I’d never seen Some Like It Hot before. I just can’t help but wonder if the women of our day would be so forgiving of Tony Curtis’s antics; he really pulled Marilyn’s strings. Last week we weren’t really prepared. But as luck would have it the people next to us were celebrating a birthday, so we got a piece of cake. I was stunned when I realized how many people were here. I couldn’t see the end of the crowd–there were literally thousands of people. People were wonderful during the movie–no talking–just laughing and absolutely enjoying it. Someone asked somebody to move, and they did. I thought wow, how surprising–I was surprised that somebody actually asked and pleasantly surprised that they gladly moved. We’re definitely more prepared tonight for Dr. Strangelove. We have a picnic basket with wine, crackers, cheese, and a citronella candle, and we got here earlier. Terry Gilliam is somebody I love–maybe next year they’ll show Brazil and Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Fisher King and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and Twelve Monkeys.
