Saturday's Rivers Casino stage headliners the Pointer Sisters

Northalsted Market Days brags that it’s the midwest’s largest two-day street festival, and it expects more than 100,000 attendees to head to Lakeview on Sat 8/11 and Sun 8/12. The fest has 400 food and arts vendors as well as four stages of live music along Halsted: one at Belmont, one at Aldine (the Jazz Stage), one at Roscoe, and one at Brompton (called the Rivers Casino North Stage). The presence of a Jazz Stage notwithstanding, the bookings lean toward crowd-pleasing pop, tribute bands, and 80s revival acts. Music starts at 12:30 PM on Saturday and 12:15 PM on Sunday. The Pointer Sisters headline the Rivers Casino stage on Saturday; other acts at the festival that day include all-female Zeppelin cover band Lez Zeppelin and Dot Dot Dot on the Belmont Stage, Jessie & the Toy Boys on the Roscoe Stage, and BMR4 and Red Hot Riot on the Jazz Stage. On Sunday Olivia Newton-John headlines the Rivers Casino stage, right after YouTube-famous duo Karmin. Cover band Sixteen Candles headlines the Roscoe Stage, though Sheena Easton (who plays the previous set) is definitely the biggest name in that day’s lineup. Sunday’s Belmont Stage headliner is American Idol contestant Paris Bennett, after a day of music that includes cover bands Don’t Speak and Planet Claire (who pay tribute to No Doubt and the B52s, respectively); the Jazz Stage roster includes Lil Ricki & the Licorice Sticks and Stache.
