NYC art-star photographer Ryan McGinley, who in 2003 became the youngest artist to ever have a solo show at the Whitney, has apparently found a new muse in Smith Westerns front man Cullen Omori. Gossip Wolf hears McGinley took a multitude of snaps of Omori hanging around the Pitchfork festival site.

Gossip Wolf spotted local culinary kingpin Graham Elliot Bowles at the Cap’n Jazz reunion show Saturday night at Bottom Lounge. Apparently the chef is an old school emo diehard—he sports a Promise Ring tattoo.
Chicago party-pop soul monsters the Dirty Diamonds have an ambitious schedule of releases coming up. The band tells Gossip Wolf that they’re releasing two songs on their website every month for the next six months as part of a project they’re calling the Singularity. On July 20 the first two singles, “Crazy Races” and “Heaven’s Plate,” hit the intertubes at pumpthedirtydiamonds.com. The band also plays the Hideout on Thursday, August 5.
This weekend Chicago record store/label Permanent Records is releasing the debut LP by Heater, a pop garage combo featuring ex-Cave member Zach McLuckie and Jeremy Freeze of Jerusalem and the Starbaskets, in a limited edition of 500. Heater, described as a “Columbia, Missouri super group” by the label, recorded “God and Hair” with still-in-Cave dude Cooper Crain.
Native kvlt Nachtmystium head out on a tour sponsored by indie music site Stereogum later this summer, and they’re taking homeys the Atlas Moth with them. Covering parts of the midwest, the eastern U.S., and Canada, the package tour also includes southern heavies Zoroaster and Florida doom duo Dark Castle. The tour opens at Otto’s in DeKalb on September 9 and finishes at Reggie’s Rock Club on October 2.
