Taking place along the six-block corridor of Randolph between Peoria and Racine, the Taste of Randolph Street features lots of food and three days of live music on two stages, Fri-Sun 6/17-6/19. Friday the music starts at 5 PM and includes the Heavy and Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers on the west stage (Randolph and May) and eight-bit rockers Anamanaguchi and the Mathew Santos Band on the east stage (Randolph and Peoria). British shoegaze heroes Swervedriver headline the west stage on Saturday, after Here We Go Magic, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, In Tall Buildings, and others, while the east stage features the Occidental Brothers Dance Band International, Young Jesus, Hemmingbirds, and more. On Sunday “action comic punk band” Peelander-Z and Texas psychobilly trio the Reverend Horton Heat keep things interesting as headliners on the west stage, while local indie-pop favorites the 1900s and acid-jazz crew Liquid Soul close out the night on the east stage. Gates open at noon on Saturday and Sunday and close at 11 PM all three days. The fest also features a DJ dance stage at Randolph and Carter that’s curated by a different club each day: Sound-Bar on Friday (5-10 PM), the Mid on Saturday (2-10 PM), and Smart Bar on Sunday (3-10 PM). Cuisine from area restaurants like Vivo, Wishbone, Saigon, and Crossroads is for sale throughout the weekend, and local artisans are selling handcrafted and merchant goods.
