Wicker Park Fest returns for its eighth installment this Saturday and Sunday with three stages of indie rock, punk, dance, pop punk, and more on Milwaukee between North and Wood. It’s one of the city’s most reputable neighborhood festivals, and the lineup seems to get bigger every year, reliably including a diverse cast of nationals and locals. On Saturday, Sleater-Kinney offshoot Wild Flag headlines the north stage, after sets by punk rockers Off With Their Heads!, Dead to Me, and the Riverboat Gamblers, among others. Superpowered DJ duo Flosstradamus tops a center-stage bill that also includes Company of Thieves and California Wives; the south stage features Mimosa, El Ten Eleven, Nit Grit, Ana Sia, and more. On Sunday, sunny stoner-pop trio Wavves headline the north stage, with support from Jesse Malin & the St. Marks Social, Everest, Ezra Furman & the Harpoons, and street-festival standbys Murder by Death, among others. The center stage keeps it dancey with high-energy sets by the likes of Digital Tape Machine, Zebo vs. Marco Morales, and Midnight Conspiracy. And Sunday’s south-stage lineup leans heavily toward all things indie with headliners Blitzen Trapper, Joe Pug & the Hundred Mile Band, Van Ghost, Netherfriends, and more. Wicker Park Fest Kids (noon-6 PM both days) features activities like face painting, a bounce house, and a dunk tank, as well as two full lineups of children’s music, including School of Rock and Kids These Days. Festival hours are noon till 10 PM each day; music starts at 1 PM on Saturday and 12:15 PM on Sunday. Admission is a $5 suggested donation, with proceeds benefiting the Wicker Park & Bucktown Chamber of Commerce. —Luca Cimarusti
