Like any good-size music festival, Pitchfork doesn’t so much end each night as it does fracture into a vast number of postfestival events at venues throughout the city. Some are officially sanctioned, such as the Chromatics concert on Sat 7/14 at Lincoln Hall, which includes DJ sets by Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio and some Pitchfork staffers. Others are only loosely associated, and some position themselves as alternatives to the main event—most notably the fourth annual Bitchpork festival, whose noisy, anarchic programming ought to appeal to anyone who considers Pitchfork’s darlings too mannered. It’s got 45 acts in four days, with highlights including Heat Death and Psychic Steel on Thu 7/12; Dreebs, PC Worship, Run DMT, and Windbreaker on Fri 7/13; Attic Ted, Samantha Glass, Tyvek, and Solid Attitude on Sat 7/14; and Apache Dropout, Guardian Alien, and Spires That in the Sunset Rise on Sun 7/15. You’ll have to work out the where and when on your own, though—longtime Bitchpork venue Mortville was shut down last month, so this year’s fest is hosted by several other DIY spaces that it wouldn’t be prudent to name here. (Try bitchpork4.tumblr.com or bporkproductions@gmail.com.) Some Pitchfork afterparties aren’t even primarily about music—on Thu 7/12 at Lincoln Hall Flatstock presents a special edition of the Show ‘n Tell Show that includes slide shows and “live design stunts” from local poster artists, and on Sun 7/15 Bottom Lounge hosts an onstage version of Adult Swim’s Eric Andre Show, a manic, post-postmodern reimagining of a cable-access talk show.

A couple notes about the listings below: Pitchfork discounts at Schubas and Lincoln Hall apply to a limited number of attendees—that is, you’re not guaranteed a cheap ticket just because you can prove you were at the festival that day. Linked band names send you to their Pitchfork write-ups, except in the case of “See Soundboard,” which is where those links head.
