Dear friends,

Peter Margasak has the most interesting approach among people writing on music in Chicago. There are a few other good writers as well, but Peter’s open mind and good taste, together with the respect that he gives to the artists, make him a very rare bird in a scene which is dominated by pretentious ignorants such as the two older guys at the Trib or that rock gossiper at the Sun-Times. It’s clear to me that Peter has picked some particular string with his article [Post No Bills, June 20]. He has received a lot of provincial anger from musicians and friends of these bands [Letters, July 4, 11, and 25]. It is time for telling him that a lot of people like his job, share his views, and have high regard for his comments.
