To the editors:
What’s a decade, give or take, among friends? Those albums I mentioned in my review of Gatemouth Brown [August 18], on which Gate showcased his abilities in a wide variety of musical styles on French and Japanese labels, were done in the 1970s, not the 1980s as my article stated. Most of Brown’s recording activity in the 80s has been for Rounder Records, although he hasn’t done anything new for them in several years. The LPs I cited were reviewed in the 80s in Living Blues magazine, and I failed to double-check their actual release dates by consulting other discographical sources. Sorry.
Special thanks to Dick Shurman, high sheriff of the blues police and relentless conscience for errant music critics everywhere, for catching the mistake.
