John Conroy’s latest chapter in the continuing Burge scandal [“The Meter’s Still Running and the Mayor’s Still Mum,” July 6] reports a real travesty. It’s one thing for the mayor to promise reporters before the election that he’ll be available for a deposition and then renege after the election. That’s politics. But it’s quite another thing for his lawyers–really the city’s lawyers–to reach a compromise before the election to keep the opposition lawyers quiet and then to renege.
