To the editors:

Professor Duesberg [“Everything You Know About AIDS Is Wrong,” October 4] may be “wickedly funny” but I am not laughing. It is true that AIDS has inconsistency, that AIDS involves more than “germ theory,” as does most disease. But like many of the AIDS care givers and AIDS sufferers, who criticize the professor, I join in condemning his most deadly hypothesis that links AIDS primarily to drug use. Is Duesberg likely to expose himself freely to any and all body fluids, to prove his point? His suggestions are outrageous and should remain in the lab, not in our lives, where most of us are struggling to deal with real life. I suggest he open the windows of his lab and breath in some real air.
