Dear Editor:
Does Bennie M. Currie still use the term “redskin”? [“The N-Word and How to Use It,” December 19.] It’s time to deny the myth that jazz is “this country’s only original musical art form.” Before this country even existed, hundreds of original musical art forms were created by the indigenous peoples. Many still live. Go to a powwow, Bennie, and you’ll hear some of the true music of this land.
He should also be told that whites learned to eat bison tongues with such relish that during the great slaughter many bison carcasses were left to rot with only the hide and tongue removed. They remain a delicacy, and yes, I’ve enjoyed it myself.
