The controversy in Andersonville concerning A Taste of Heaven reminds me of the time I was visiting the Ukrainian Village neighborhood about a decade ago. I was walking around with a friend on a mild afternoon. The streets were quiet and neat, and as we started down one lined with two- and three-flat buildings we passed several children of varying ages playing in a front yard. When an adolescent boy yelled after a girl he was chasing, an elderly woman standing among the children put her index finger up to her lips and said, “Ssssshhhhhh.”

Maybe there’s a lesson here for somebody. Or everybody.
