To the editor,

I am responding to Scott Erickson’s letter (“Liked the Short List” from October 29) to say that I agree with his sentiments wholeheartedly. I recently picked up a Reader to choose a play to see with my wife over the weekend. I too was surprised to see that the “Short List” had been removed from your theater listings section and replaced with a collection of virtually indistinguishable symbols. My surprise soon turned to frustration as I attempted to tediously make my way through all of your theater listings. After reading through about 50 listings, we gave up and went to see a movie instead. I don’t have the time or energy to look through the 125-plus descriptions, symbols, date and times, etc.

So, for those of us who choose to make the time to see live theater (but don’t have the time to spend an hour deciding what to see), please bring back the “Short List.” Thank you.
