I was very pleased to read Elizabeth Tamny’s review of Mona Lisa Smile [“History Versus Her Story,” January 9]. As an alumna of Wellesley College, I have been disappointed by recent reviews of the film from everyone from Ebert to the New York Times. Tamny’s review politely reveals the inaccuracies of the film while refusing to label the entire thing as drivel. She acknowledges the accomplishments of Wellesley and other all-female institutions as well! Kudos to her for seeing through the cliche and awarding the film an intelligent and well-written critique. This almost clears the Reader for identifying that terrible Ewan McGregor-Renee Zellweger film as a top ten of 2003 [January 2]! Cheers!
