Neighborhood Tours

Chicago Greeter

If you have guests in from out of town but don’t have time to schlep them around the city, the Chicago Greeter program, run by the Office of Tourism, might come in handy. Volunteer guides conduct 26 tours of specific neighborhoods and more than 40 highlighting special areas of interest, including antique stores, farmers’ markets, ethnic enclaves, fashion, literature, and film. The groups are small–typically no more than five or six guests–and a free one-day CTA pass is included as part of the package. –Megan Roberts
