Dear editors:

Kudos to Harold Henderson and the Reader for making public the successful ethnobotanical research being conducted by the UIC pharmacognosy program ([“Searching for a Miracle Drug”], June 3, Vol. 23, No. 35). Such articles greatly promote the cause of maintaining biodiversity, a cause we would do well to fully embrace, because it just may be that the loss of biodiversity will be the human race’s final folly, with consequences greater than any that preceded it.
