To the editors:

I am so grateful to Mark Caro for his detailed instructions on the uses of sarcasm as a technique for diplomatic intimidation [Our Town, November 3]. Sarcasm is a tactic so underutilized in modern American culture as to be virtually unknown. Thanks to Mr. Caro, however, people everywhere can now be sarcastic like professionals. I think I’ll go out and practice right now.
