The only reason a friendly would outdraw Sox/Cubs [Hot Type, June 9] is because Soldier Field holds more people. With 98 years of heartbreak on the north side, they could sell 200,000 tickets if the park held that many.

Both my kids played youth soccer and JV soccer in high school. They could care less about soccer. I think most kids that played soccer in school have the same attitude. Everyone thought soccer would be a big deal after the women won the cup, and granted, it was exciting. Even I watched. But it didn’t pan out. People are not flocking to major-league soccer games.

Yes, our “American sport” sports can be boring at times, but how many last-minute goals do you see in soccer? Even hockey has more last-second goals than soccer.
